The often overlooked filter

Many owners of Toyota 2.4L and 2.8L diesel vehicles, including the Hilux and Land Cruiser Prado, are unaware that their vehicle is equipped with a secondary fuel filter.

Unlike the main fuel filter located in the engine bay, this hidden filter is typically mounted beneath the intake manifold on the right-hand side of the engine, making it easy to overlook during routine servicing.

This secondary filter plays a critical role by supplying clean, filtered fuel to the dedicated DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) injector, often referred to as the fifth injector. When the filter becomes restricted or clogged, it can contribute to rough idling, DPF regeneration problems, reduced performance, and engine warning lights.

To help protect the DPF injector and prevent costly repairs, we recommend replacing the secondary fuel filter every 30-40k 
Regular maintenance of both filters helps ensure optimal fuel delivery, reliable DPF operation, and long-term engine health.
